GIT DIFF VIEWER · macOS

Review Git changes on your Mac

Yenpo is a native Mac app for reading source code and reviewing committed changes. Open a local repository, choose commits or branches, and move from the changed-file tree into read-only inline diffs. Keep the exact revisions in view while you investigate what a patch changes.

01 / CHOOSE YOUR WORKFLOW

A place to read a patch in context

Use Yenpo when you want to understand an existing commit, review a feature branch, or investigate a possible regression. The comparison is pinned to specific base and head commits, so it stays the same if a branch moves later. Open a new comparison when you want the newer commits.

Browsing the diff, opening files, and searching local code work without a model account. Language-server navigation can help you find definitions and references when the appropriate server is installed and understands the project.

02 / PICK THE QUESTION

One commit, two branch tips, or changes since divergence

What did this commit change?

Commit

First parent → selected commit. A root commit is compared with an empty tree.

Inspect one patch, including a merge commit’s changes relative to its first parent.

How do two branch tips differ?

Direct comparison

Selected base tip → selected head tip.

Compare the two committed snapshots. Work on either branch can affect the result.

What did this branch add since it split off?

Since the branches split

Common ancestor (merge base) → selected head.

Review a feature branch’s contribution. This does not simulate a merge or predict conflicts.

Choose the mode and verify the commit IDs

03 / LOOK BEYOND THE CHANGED LINES

A small diff can depend on unchanged code

In our promise-cache example, a rejection handler deletes a failed read from the cache. The unchanged invalidate function makes that cleanup dangerous: another caller can invalidate pending read A and start read B before A fails. A’s cleanup then removes B, and the next caller starts a duplicate read.

  1. Start with the changed-file tree and read the edited function in the inline diff.
  2. Read the functions it interacts with, then look for callers that can reach the suspected order. Check the revision shown by each tab: a current working file may differ from the selected head.
  3. Check the base revision to separate an introduced regression from an existing problem. Run a focused test yourself before treating the suspected sequence as reproduced.

04 / OPTIONAL AI REVIEW

Ask about the selected comparison

The comparison header can prepare an AI Reader draft with the comparison attached. Review the draft and send it when ready. Comparison conversations stay read-only; use cited source locations to check each proposed finding, and run any suggested tests yourself.

AI review requires a configured model provider. Your question and relevant code are sent to that provider’s endpoint, and its account and pricing apply. Local diff viewing does not require this setup.
